10 types of rehearsal places you need to know

With summer almost finished, it's time to get back into the routines, adjust the schedule, impose a work selfdiscipline,... Maybe you have just created a band or you think about a change, that's why we have compiled the 10 types that musn't lack in an options list.

  • 1.- The park

A classic. Raise your hand if you have never rehearsed in a neighbourhood park. So: an essential classic.

  • 2.- Your bedroom

A recourse for bands with great problems of financing. Also available in the version for emancipated single men: the living room!

    • Pros: Very near from the fridge.

  • 3.- The garage

I have seen it only in movies, but actually many great bands are born within the four walls of a shabby garage.

    • Schedule: 6
    • Average: 6.8

  • 4.- The cultural association

That means: cultural centre, hall in academic centre, neighbouring association, parish or municipal area, assigned to musical groups for a specific period of time.

    • Pros: It's free and sometimes "half" equipped.
    • Cons: There are usually long waiting lists and it doesn't last forever. The kingdom of influences.

    • Price: 10
    • Acoustics: 6
    • Equipment and comfort: 8
    • Schedule: 5
    • Average: 7

Recommended for very new bands and for the person in charge's nephew.

  • 5.- Hourly rehearsal

A very advisable solution when a band is starting or, just the opposite, when they have a very crafted repertoire.

    • Pros: You only pay the time you use it and a part of the equipment is already in place.
    • Cons: It's much expensive if you must go very often.

    • Price: 6
    • Acoustics: 8

Recommended for friends who play together for fun; and bands that compose at home (or play covers) and first rehearse individually.

  • 6.- A shared place (3 bands or more)

Another classic choice when money is short. Even when the place is large, it shall be dificult to put 3 drum sets, although there are cases of that kind, and so you probably had to share it.

    • Pros: A lot of people sharing the monthly rent.
    • Cons: It's very dificult to assign the schedule, they have to share the equipment for optimise the place... And one of the bands sually fucks up (unwritten rule).
    • Room: 5
    • Price: 8
    • Acoustics: 8
    • Equipment and comfort: 8
    • Schedule: 6
    • Average: 7

Recommended for new groups in the waiting list of the cultural association.

  • 7.- A place by two bands

The best option for the 80% of bands, so to speak.

    • Pros: Endurable expense and a perfect distribution of the rehearsal days.
    • Cons: A few. It isn't like to have a place for yourself but, if both bands collaborate, it's alike.

    • Price: 7
    • Acoustics: 8
    • Equipment and comfort: 9

Recommended for any band that dosn't make a living from their music.

  • 8.- Exclusive place

Exclusive placeEvery band's dream after one of the previous "states".

  • 9.- Exclusive place VIP
